I’ve slapped this on some of my guns that were covered in gunk and it was impressive how the oil got them to start running again. Once you apply it to parts like the lever and bolt carrier and let it sit for a while, cleaning off the burnt powder residue should be easy.
There are a couple of reasons why I swear by this one. One is that this solvent can clean any firearm you can think of, including old-timey revolvers, modern sporting rifles, CCW pistols, deer rifles – literally anything. The second reason is that it’s extremely effective; the solvent can clean out any abrasive dirt from the gun while breaking down grime and residue. I’ve been using the Hoppe’s No. 9 for over 15 years now and I’ve had zero issues with corrosion. The reason could be the inhibiting properties in the solvent that prevents carbon and lead build-up and protects the guns from rusting and corroding.
